Night
Rating
A night rating allows you to act as pilot in command of an aircraft after sunset until sunrise giving you more flexibility to adapt your time schedules, allowing you the freedom to be able to get home after dark, or carry out an early morning take-off.

Night Rating Requirements
- 5 hours theoretical briefings on Night flying and basic instrument flying.
- SACAA Night examination conducted in our SACAA approved examination centre.
- Instrument training: 5 hours in the simulator dual.
- Instrument training in the aircraft: 5 hours.
- 5 hours of general night flying which will include a cross country and circuits.
- Night flight test to examine your ability to fly on instruments and at night.
- Navigation.
- Human Performance.
- Flight Planning and performance.
The 10 hours of Instrument training will count towards your Instrument rating. You will now only have to do 30 hours additional Instrument training to complete your Instrument rating.
Please note that these are the minimum hours required and depending on the students aptitude and diligence the hours may vary.
Payment Terms: At enrolment students are required to contact Accounts to make payment.
Train for Your PPL Licence
A night rating will allow you, but is not designed to train you to fly through the night.
We recommend that you start the training as soon as you have completed your Private Pilot’s Licence.
Whether you plan on flying purely for pleasure or a career, you have to start at the beginning. The Private Pilot Licence is where your adventure in aviation starts.
